Burleydam Garden Centre Makes UK Top Ten List
Burleydam Garden Centre, based in Little Sutton, South Wirral, received this prestigious award, retaining its title as a ‘Garden Centre of Excellence’ but this year scooped a top ten spot in the Garden Centre Association (GCA) annual list of the top 100 garden centres in the country!
The awards and listings are given out by the GCA following an extensive annual audit of each of its members. The audits take place between March and June each year and assess every aspect of their operations. Garden centres are graded in 22 separate categories encompassing everything from their product offering, displays and facilities to the level of safety, quality signage and standards of customer care.
Burleydam impressed the judges across every category!
Asked about the secret of Burleydam Garden Centre’s retail operations manager, Tania Simpson, said: “We always try to see our business through our customers’ eyes and look to introduce exciting new initiatives, whilst always bearing in mind that first and foremost we are a garden centre. And most of all, we always aim to offer great gardening inspiration, great value and great service.
“We are delighted to have retained our title as a ‘Garden Centre of Excellence’ and to have been listed ninth in the country is an incredible achievement and one that we are very proud of.”
The win at the GCA Awards comes on the back of a growing list of accolades for Burleydam. Most recently the company won the Best Themed Promotion for its Good Life Garden at the Garden Retail Awards.
Burleydam launched the Good Life Garden last year to show its customers exactly how to ‘grow your own’. Throughout the year, experts, Joe, David and Rose grow a wide variety of different fruit and vegetables in the specially designed vegetable beds and the green house and are on-hand to give specialist tips and advice. They also care for the two resident hens Penelope and Felicity.
But recognition of Burleydam’s achievements is not just confined to the UK. Following their success in the Garden Retail Awards, they were approached by world-renowned garden centre consultant John Connelly, who informed us he uses our website updates and videos on the Good Life Garden as an innovative real-life example for his talks in the US.
“We are delighted with the success of the Good Life Garden and are pleased that it has won such critical acclaim. But the real measure of success lies in its popularity with our customers, helping them to grow their own fruit and veg is where the real satisfaction in this project lies,” explained Tania.
Burleydam Garden Centre is part of the EH Williams Group and employs 103 members of staff who are on-hand to provide expert advice about the right plants for the conditions in your garden.
It offers a wide range of plants from seasonal bulbs, bedding plants, flowering perennials, roses and climbers to conifers, trees and evergreens. This is complemented by the sale of garden furniture, lighting and barbeques, tools, water features ,wildlife accessories and an inspirational range of giftware and oak furniture. There is also an extensive pet shop as well as the popular Orchard Café.
